Hello, I'm

Patrícia Géa

I first met social dance back in 2011. Since then, I never left it.

Since the very beginning I used to question about the traditional roles of the

couple dancing, so I studied and practiced to lead and to follow. I felt that

I wasn’t fulfilled by the way I was being taught, so I realized that most of the

lessons I attended to were just about making moves over and over again -

they were not about understanding those moves. I started then not to

accept those “just because yes or no” answers to my questions…

As I started noticing those limitations and sought to improve my

performance as a dancer and to increase my understanding about

the body and its movement, I’ve had ballet, contemporary dance,

jazz, performance, flex, gyrotonic, contact and improvisation classes,

in addition to practice with partners.

Meanwhile, I graduated as a Designer, and that was the sum of all those

questionings + my graduation + the access to other knowledge universes

+ a bit of creativity, which I build and develop my own = dydatics and

class methodology, bringing more body autonomy to those who dance.

My goal is to provide comfort, respect, self-esteem, creativity, identity and

expression, allied to aesthetics and technique through the couple dancing.

I build that from concepts, fundamentals, technique, theoretical and practical

approaches, dynamics and exercises developed by me, and an unique

vision (with a twinkle in the eye) about Dance. I believe in the importance

of knowing both current and past contexts of couple dancing so we can

learn its working and how its evolution will build up henceforth, so it is

necessary to study and to be up not only to the moves, but also to their

history and their motivation.

I’m specialized in Zouk and I got deeper studies in Lamba, Urban, and

majorly in Soul. In 2018 I’ve been invited by my colleague China

for the conception of the methodology of Soulzouk, so we studied

and developed it with other professionals. Since then, I became

one of the licenced professionals to hand classes on that rhythm.

That was an unique and profound experience, which helped

me in the process of developing this way of seeing and

understanding Dance.

I study and develop my work of Body Expression (which includes

awareness and musicality), and with it I have attended many courses and

workshops in Minas Gerais (since 2015) and I held classes regarding

that subject through 3 big congresses in Belo Horizonte (2017).

I have got my professional register in 2017 by SATED. In that journey, I’ve

worked in the Costa Cruzeiro franchise by the Dancing Team, traveling through

the coast of Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Italy and Spain (2018-19). I won Samba

and Zouk contests. I integrated the Grupo Corpo Cidadão (2014-2018), Cia

Contato do Corpo (2015-2017), and the Espetáculo Mulheres (2013).

Currently, I:

  • Am a dancer at the Mimulus Cia de Dança (since 2019);

  • Hold private, group classes, study groups, workshops and congresses;

  • Draw custom choreographies for debutantes, engaged couples and other                  special moments;

  • Promote workshops and Zouk parties in Belo Horizonte;

  • Perform in social or corporate events;

  • m the main mind behind the Projeto Lobas (which stands for the enrichment of the visibility of women teachers in social dance).
