I have soulzouk classes with Pat, at the advanced study group. Pat’s classes are an amazing experience. She’s a great dancer and she’s got incredible dydatics, she conveys a lot of confidence and safety. The classes are really challenging because they make us perceive and perform moves that seemed impossible or meant only for professionals. It is a fantastic self-knowledge experience, of overcoming your own limits. Besides, she is very human and sensitive, a person who shows herself as a friend of her students. All of that makes the course fantastic and fun.

For about three years ago I started dancing - actually, I dance ever since I was a child. At first I wanted to learn Forró, then I went to Bolero and Samba (because they were all part of a pack). It changed my life, I was anxiously looking forward to get to the time to go dancing.
In there, I just forgot about the life outside, I would just dance…
We get the feeling that it takes a whole year just to get the moves right, and another one so you can do it without looking at your own feet… But actually, the dance comes in slowly, through your skin, through your mind and all of the sudden you can let yourself go and everything gets its logic, everything becomes natural and it just flows…
Then you think you are the best!!!
When you are dancing, you think you really know how to dance…
I’ve had many great teachers and monitors, which I thank immensely!!!
But this one teacher is really special: Patrícia Géa.
When you see Patrícia dancing, it is touching, you don’t know if she is the dance or if the dance is she. She dances not only with her body, she dances with soul, with heart!!! It is an amazing fusion of body, soul, heart, mind and music that results in an wonderful show.
Some people are good at dancing, but not so good at teaching. Patrícia knows about both dancing and teaching. She can feel the class and adapt or even improvise over what that class needs that day. She teaches in such a light and delightful way, you learn kind of not noticing and then one day you realize that you’ve learned and you are dancing. Sometimes it feels kind of magic, but it is not - it is science, study, dedication and love for the profession.
Let me just point two things: congratulations Patrícia and thank you Patrícia!!!

Pat is an incredible woman and an even more incredible teacher. My boyfriend presented me to Zouk, because before I used to dance only Forró. And in a Zouk party I got to know about a study group. I decided to join that study group, me and Arthur (my boyfriend / husband). Due to other reasons, he left it a little bit later, but I had a commitment with Pat to keep dancing, having private classes in addition to the group ones. So, I ended up falling in love with Zouk, and Pat helped me to find out not only about thousands of possibilities of that style, but, above all, thousands of potential within myself. Pat’s got amazing energy and exceptional dydatics. I am very helped that we crossed our ways!

So, what can I say about you, Pat… My dear teacher! I’ve been down this road for three years! I’ve been in different schools and professionals! I thank each one of them! But today my special thanks goes for you! You, that I’ve been so lucky to meet! And that when I came in filled up with uncertainties and insecurities, made me believe that it was possible to evolve in such a significant way! You, that came in the wrong side of the road, breaking all those stereotypes and shackles that I used to carry… And you slowly torn them down with your unique technique, care, persistence and great respect! You, that believed and encouraged me in moments that even I didn’t think I was gonna make it! You, that taught me there is no right or wrong! There is the technique that helps you perform the moves! Moves which are more than external! That actually begin from inside out! You taught me that dance is much more than performing moves! It’s about feeling, listening, it is perception, it’s respect! It’s self-knowledge! And who’s to say that it should be heavy and hurtful?! You taught me it should be light, and always with many possibilities! It’s about adapting and understanding that there isn’t only one specific way of learning, because each person has his or her own way of feeling and expressing themselves! It is your time of learning! I’m still learning and some of the shackles are still here! But looking back I can see how I came here, who I was and who I am! And this transformation has been fantastic! Gratitude for all this process! I know it is not easy but with love everything transcends! And you simply love what you do!
